What to expect

Thoughtful care, wherever we meet.

At Colorado Naturopathic House Calls, we take time to understand your health, your history, and the circumstances that shape your everyday life. That understanding informs how we approach your care, from clinical decisions and treatment planning to the practical details of putting recommendations into action.

Whether we meet virtually or in your home, you can expect thorough, collaborative care, clear communication, and thoughtful attention to what matters most to you.

Our aim is to make each appointment useful, each next step understandable, and your care manageable within the life you're living.

Your Appointments

Comprehensive Virtual Consultations

Your initial consultation is a dedicated opportunity to examine your health in context. Your provider will have extensively reviewed your intake forms and available records beforehand, allowing the conversation to focus on clarifying your concerns, exploring relevant patterns and connections, identifying gaps in your medical history, and establishing clinical priorities.

Together, you’ll review the provider’s initial impressions, discuss whether additional information or examination is needed, and establish a plan for moving forward. When appropriate, that may include laboratory testing, coordination with your existing healthcare providers, or scheduling an in-person evaluation.

Home Visits

Home visits allow your provider to conduct appropriate in-person examinations and clinical services while gaining a fuller understanding of the environment, routines, and resources that shape your health.

Depending on your needs, an appointment might include reviewing the medications, vitamins, and supplements you have on hand; looking through your pantry, refrigerator, or kitchen together; or discussing how your living space, daily routines, and household logistics influence your care. These conversations can help your provider offer more specific, practical guidance grounded in how you live.

Your provider will arrive with the equipment needed for your scheduled appointment and explain any preparations in advance. We ask that you provide a reasonably clean, accessible, private, and safe space for care. Your home doesn't need to be perfectly organized or specially arranged. During an initial visit, your provider will also assess whether the setting is suitable for future appointments.

An important note about professional responsibilities: Colorado naturopathic doctors are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect and certain forms of mistreatment involving at-risk adults. These legal responsibilities apply during home visits, just as they do in any other clinical setting. If a provider encounters circumstances that meet the applicable reporting requirements, they must make the required report to the appropriate authorities. Patient confidentiality remains a priority, subject to disclosures required by law.

Follow-Up Appointments

Your care builds on an established understanding of your health and circumstances. Follow-ups give you and your provider time to assess progress, interpret new information, refine your plan, and address changes as they arise.

Appointments take place virtually or in person according to your clinical needs, with the flexibility to make each visit purposeful and appropriate to what you're working toward.

Care That Fits Your Life

Care Plans Built Around Your Circumstances

A useful care plan needs to account for the resources, responsibilities, and routines you already have. Your provider will work with you to understand what's feasible, where you have flexibility, and which changes are most likely to make a meaningful difference.

Recommendations may involve nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, medications, supplements, or other clinically appropriate interventions. Together, you'll establish priorities, consider costs and tradeoffs, and identify a manageable starting point. Your plan can be adjusted as you learn what works and as your circumstances evolve.

Testing, Referrals, and Coordinated Care

CNHC provides naturopathic medical care within the scope of practice established by Colorado law. Our services are designed to complement your broader healthcare team.

CNHC is not a primary care practice, urgent care service, emergency service, or source of 24-hour medical coverage. We encourage every patient to maintain an ongoing relationship with a licensed physician for primary and conventional medical care.

Colorado naturopathic doctors are registered with the state and are not medical doctors or physicians licensed under Colorado's Medical Practice Act. Our providers practice within the authority and limitations of Colorado's Naturopathic Doctor Act.

We value collaboration with your other healthcare professionals. During onboarding, we'll ask you to complete appropriate authorizations so we can communicate with your physicians and other providers, request relevant records, and coordinate care when needed. We welcome those relationships and believe that good communication across your healthcare team supports better-informed decisions.

When appropriate, your provider may recommend laboratory testing, imaging, specialist evaluation, or services outside CNHC. We'll explain the clinical purpose of those recommendations, help you understand your options, and discuss potential outside costs whenever possible.

If your needs exceed our scope of practice or available services, we'll direct you toward an appropriate level of care.

For a medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency care. For urgent concerns, contact an appropriate urgent care or medical service rather than waiting for a CNHC response.

Your Secure Patient Portal

Your secure patient portal keeps important parts of your care organized in one place. You can use it to manage appointments, complete forms, access shared clinical documents, and send secure messages to your provider.

Between appointments, the portal provides a way to ask appropriate follow-up questions, share updates requested by your provider, or clarify instructions from a recent visit.

Some questions can be resolved through a brief message. Others require a more thorough clinical conversation, examination, or new appointment. Your provider will help you understand that distinction and explain expected response times and communication boundaries.

The portal is intended for routine communication and is not continuously monitored. It should never be used for emergencies or time-sensitive medical concerns.

Colorado Patient Disclosures

Below is a brief overview of relevant disclosures. For a full review of disclosures, please see the links available at the bottom of this webpage.

Understanding Your Care

Colorado Naturopathic House Calls is committed to helping patients understand the qualifications, professional responsibilities, and scope of practice of the providers involved in their care.

The following information explains important aspects of naturopathic medical practice in Colorado. Additional disclosures, consent documents, and practice policies are provided through our secure patient portal before your first clinical appointment.

Naturopathic Doctor Registration

Naturopathic doctors in Colorado are registered by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies under the Naturopathic Doctor Act.

A Colorado-registered naturopathic doctor is not a medical doctor or physician licensed under Colorado's Medical Practice Act. Colorado distinguishes naturopathic doctor registration from physician licensure.

Each CNHC provider's professional credentials and applicable registration information are available upon request.

Scope of Practice

Colorado law establishes the services naturopathic doctors may provide and the limitations of their practice.

CNHC providers practice within their individual qualifications, professional training, and applicable legal scope. When a patient's needs require services or expertise beyond those limits, the provider will recommend evaluation or care from an appropriate healthcare professional.

Relationships With Other Healthcare Providers

Patients are encouraged to maintain a relationship with a licensed physician for conventional medical care.

CNHC welcomes collaboration with patients' physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. With appropriate authorization, we may request and share relevant clinical information to support coordinated care.

Urgent and Emergency Medical Needs

CNHC does not provide emergency care, urgent care, or continuous medical coverage.

For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For urgent concerns, seek care through an appropriate urgent care or medical service.

Secure portal messages and other routine practice communications are not monitored continuously.

Privacy, Confidentiality & Mandatory Reporting

CNHC maintains patient information in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Colorado naturopathic doctors are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect and specified forms of mistreatment involving at-risk adults. These responsibilities apply in virtual and in-person clinical settings, including home visits.

When applicable law requires a report or disclosure, the provider must fulfill that responsibility.

Home-Visit Suitability & Safety

Home visits require an environment that allows care to be delivered safely, privately, and appropriately.

Providers may assess the suitability of the proposed appointment space and may modify, reschedule, or decline an in-home appointment when necessary. When possible, alternative care arrangements will be discussed.

Informed Consent & Patient Rights

Before your initial clinical examination, you will receive the applicable disclosures and consent documents through the patient portal.

These materials explain the nature and limitations of naturopathic medical care, relevant professional qualifications, and other information required by Colorado law.

Patients are encouraged to review these materials carefully and ask questions before consenting to care.

Professional Questions & Complaints

Questions about CNHC services, professional credentials, or practice policies may be directed to the practice.

Information about Colorado naturopathic doctor registration and the professional complaint process is available through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Professions and Occupations.
